Raging wildfires cause devastation that can be seen all over the world. Wildfires are commonly seen in California and, more recently, in Canada. The causes of these fires can range from natural occurrences like hot and dry climate conditions to man-made fires like unattended campfires and even smoking. Over the past few weeks, our very own state of New Jersey has faced wildfires. New Jersey has been facing a drought for the past few weeks. There was no rain during the whole month of October. These conditions are contributing to the forest fires in the tri-state area. Many wildfires have torn through forests in Passaic County and even in Livingston, a town very close to our school. Sadly, some people have even died while fighting these fires. Although there is not much we can do after these fires begin, we can work to prevent them. We can practice safe outdoor activities and be careful around fire. Thankfully, there is rain in the upcoming forecast, which will help to limit the spread of these raging fires.
