The Academy brought the Halloween Assembly outside this year!

Students were surprised to find that the Halloween Assembly started with a procession through the school. Showing off their entertaining ensembles, the girls paraded by the Sisters of Charity, smiling and laughing the whole while. The group made their way through the senior parking lot to the back of the school where they found a host of unexpected activities awaiting them.

Traditionally in the study hall or theater, the Halloween Assembly hosts a myriad of activities such as mummy wrapping, Halloween charades, and the Oreo eating contest are of the most popular. This year, however, the student council created a more interactive form of the traditional Halloween Assembly– and outside. Instead of having to sign up and stand on the stage, participants could walk up to each station and try the activities without the entire assembly’s attention on them– perfect for introverts. With the new setting, some special additions were made to the beloved tradition. Outside, seniors were able to decorate their cars for some Trunk-or-Treating, and girls were able to carve pumpkins– with no fear of a mess. The two new traditions were a hit as everyone participated in the activities throughout the hour. Then came the time for the costume contests.

Students were decked out in apparel ranging from the Lorax and Taylor Swift imitations to gory clowns and Among Us characters. To capture a plethora of creative costumes, several costume contests were held. “Best Individual Costume” went to Elizabeth Palmer ‘24, dressed as Santa Claus. Deacon Russ, in his humorous rendition of a German boy, took the win for “Best Teacher Costume.” Winners of the “Best Group Costume,” Grace Donald ‘24, Grace Gehm ‘24, Caroline O’Callaghan ‘24, Stevie Robinson ‘24, and Samantha Sloan ‘24, displayed their love for The Suite Life of Zach and Cody, and the whole school showed their support, garnering them the most applause. Coolest Costume went to the DIY duck, soap, and loofah costume worn by Jacqueline Diaz ‘27, Nia Pryor ‘27, and Ava Sangosse ‘27. The dynamic duo, Dr. Altonjy and Mrs. Prasad, dressed as Pumpkin Pi, securing the title of Best Group Costume. Dr. A. even cracked a joke about their math-related costume– no doubt a key piece in the raucous applause that followed. Francesca Coniglio ‘27, in her hauntingly perfect impression of Carrie from the horror movie Carrie, awarding her the win of Scariest Costume. Lastly, the Funniest Costume was awarded to Piper Tricarico ‘25, who dressed as the Lorax: yellow eyebrows, mustache, and all!
