Costa Rica

Emma Ritchie '25

The annual Academy spring break trip is back! Over spring break in 2023, the students will be visiting Costa Rica. Moderated by Mrs. Walsh, they will be doing a myriad of activities including horseback riding, zip lining and Costa Rican dance classes over the course of their stay. They will be going on a Río Frío Boat Trip, a guided boat tour through the Río Frío River in Costa Rica. The students will also be visiting a national park and doing a community service project in Sarapiquí.

The students hope to learn skills in independence, flexibility and teamwork over the course of this trip. They will be collaborating with familiar people, but also new ones. They will be learning about the culture in Costa Rica, participating in a cultural exchange with local students and taking Costa Rican cooking lessons. Some students going on the trip are most excited about ziplining and horseback riding. Academy student Emma Brading says, “I’m excited to both travel to a place I’ve never been while also being able to experience so many unique activities.” Safe to say, it’ll be good for the SEAsters to be back!
