Fall is full of color, cold weather, holidays, as well as wonderful food. A food most recognizable in the fall is one that has some sort of pumpkin in it. For example: pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin glazed donuts, pumpkin cheesecake, the list goes on. You may be asking yourself, why all this pumpkin? Well, in the fall most people think of Halloween, and with Halloween comes pumpkin picking, carving, and decorating. But, contrary to popular belief, not all pumpkins are used for the same things. The pumpkins one uses for decorating carving are a completely different pumpkin from the ones people use to make delicious treats. The type of pumpkin used for baking and cooking is called a sugar pumpkin. Sugar pumpkins are denser and sweeter than regular carving pumpkins.

The next time you ask yourself what you should make for your next fall party, don’t be scared to go to your local grocery store and get some pumpkin puree to make a nice pumpkin pie. Anything pumpkin is bound to get your guests in the fall holiday spirit.
