A recent trend involving the ranking of the Top 10 Inventions in a user’s opinion has taken the internet by storm. Many users have been seen ranking items from Starbucks drinks to types of jewelry to be in their Top 10. Overall, this trend allows for users to share their opinions and connect with others with similar interests.
Adding my personal touch to the trend, I composed a list of the Top 5 Apps in my opinion (in no particular order):
- Instagram
- Instagram reels will forever be funny and will never fail to make me laugh. The comment section on my reel “for-you-page” is very funny and allows for an entertaining experience for the viewer.
- Lucillia Manwaring ‘28 states, “Each scroll is a mystery unlocking relatability and laughter. Whether it is funny memes or delicious baking clips, it is always addictive to scroll.” (Lucillia Manwaring ‘28).
- Block Blast
- Block Blast is a super fun and engaging game that is one of my go-to apps. I play Block Blast whenever I am bored or procrastinating doing work. This game also helps connect people by allowing them to discuss high scores and achievements.
- For example, my high score on Block Blast is 297,204.
- Roblox
- Roblox offers a wide variety of games, with around 40 million different options on the app. These games are all unique and appeal to people of all ages. Additionally, new games are always being released to keep up with new trends and an ever-changing society.
- The app also helps bring people together because of the friendship component. Friends on Roblox can build houses, run restaurants, and create memories that last a lifetime.
- My 24 Roblox friends and I enjoy playing together and will soon create a Roblox gaming YouTube channel which will (hopefully) make us super rich.
- Spotify
- Spotify is an amazing app for music streaming that allows many different users to connect.
- Some of my favorite features about Spotify are the AI components. The AI tools help make playlists depending on your mood and can help create focus playlists to boost productivity.
- Additionally, using features like the ‘Blend’ feature, users can combine their music tastes into one joint playlist, creating a positive listening experience for all. To add, Spotify Wrapped is heavily-anticipated each year, as it helps people learn more about their listening habits, as well as reflect on and recall memories from the past year.
- Snapchat
- Snapchat is one of the Top 5 apps because it allows for Bitmoji reactions. One of the only reasons I use Snapchat is because of said reactions. These different Bitmoji reactions help express my feelings.
- For example, when my bunnies died, I used the sobbing-against-a-brick-wall Bitmoji reaction to express my sadness and how affected I was by this tragic event.
- On a more positive note, when my friend Maeve bought my Qdoba for me, I used a celebratory reaction to express how happy and grateful I was for this kind gesture.
Apps like the ones in my top 5 allow for expression, creativity, reminiscence, and memory-making. When used positively, they create a motivating environment of creators, encouraging individuals to share their own interests and experiences with the world.
