As the cold season has come and Christmas break is only two weeks away, students are finally starting to let loose and cannot wait for Christmas break. Students like me have to balance a busy teen life. Our lives overflow with schoolwork, clubs, sports, after-school activities, homework, maintaining a social life, and studying. Most students are exhausted from all the work and activities they have to deal with each day and will finally be able to rest for two weeks during the break. There will be no more tests, homework, activities, sports events, or practices, and students can enjoy time with their family and friends during the magical holiday season. However, before we can do that, there is still one more major assignment: midterm assessments, also called interim exams.
This series of exams for each subject will go on from December 12th to the last day of school before break, December 19th. Since the assessments significantly impact grades, and there is one test for each subject, a substantial amount of studying is required. Focus, free time, and sleep are crucial to passing the exams. Many students, like my friends and myself, are stressed out by these exams. The fear of not succeeding is always haunting me. Since this is the first year of high school, it will be in our records. However, there are some benefits to Intertims exams. Since it is two hours from nine to eleven am, once completed, students have time to go home, rest, and study for the next exam. Our brains cannot mentally remember everything from the first day of school to the present for each class. Time and energy management during this period are stressing students out.
The interim assessments bring fear, stress, and anxiety. However, once the exams are over, we can all relax because we will finally be on Christmas break! Good luck, everyone!
