As we finally settle into fall and late October, there are a few things we need to pack up and put away, and a few things we need to bring along through wintertime. Autumn bring jackets, scarves (red if you’re a Swiftie), and gloves to warm up your fingers! Pumpkin spice, cinnamon, and apple cider are popular candle scents on a cozy fall night. If you want to go full Rory Gilmore, you can don a cable knit sweater and a pair of jeans and go outside on a nice day and read or study! Take a trip to a farm to go pumpkin picking or apple picking with your friends and enjoy the cooler days. Go on a hayride, or even better, a haunted hayride! In the spirit of Halloween, have fun shopping for your costume and buying candy for the little kids to come and trick or treat. Go shop around your local farmers’ market or see if there’s a corn maze around town and play hide and seek! My personal favorite: gathering leaves to jump in with my brother.
Some other fall activities, or rather, the more boring ones, include cleaning out your closet– the dreaded transition from shorts to leggings and jeans and switching out tank tops for long-sleeved t-shirts. Sweep up the leaves into piles. Get your Christmas list ready while you watch the cold creep into the shorter days. Sadly, all of this means getting paler and forgoing beach trips.
However, there are plenty of events to look forward to. It’s almost snow season! Thanksgiving is right around the corner which brings family, friends, and pie! And to a select group, Christmas music will ring out the second the clock hits midnight on November 29! And to those brave enough, Black Friday shopping! Sports like Skiing, Snowboarding, and Basketball seasons start, just as Hockey season began recently for fans like myself. Go, Devils!
But for today, we will breathe in the nice fall morning air and adore the sunsets we have been given as we wait for the seasons to change. For now, it’s fall, y’all!
