The Pollinators Committee’s second annual photography contest is in full bloom. Last year’s competition was a success, attracting a total of 19 submissions from Academy students. Ava Montaruli’s winning photograph, “The Leaf,” beautifully captured the 2023 theme of “Welcome, Spring” with subtle lighting and intricate details. In addition to being posted on the official St. E’s social media accounts and Aosepress Newspaper, her photograph is also featured in the 2023 Fall/Winter Legacy Magazine.
This year’s coordinators are excited for another year of the contest. Besides celebrating the artistic skill of Academy students, the competition is meant to inspire a changed perspective on the environment: nature is a source of sustenance as well as beauty and should be respected as such. In this way, the contest reaffirms St. E’s students’ commitment to protecting the natural world.
This year’s theme is “Farewell, Winter” and three submissions maximum are accepted from each applicant. The submission portal closes after Monday, April 22nd, or Earth Day.
