Lucia Ferriso ’23

5/12/23– Senior lacrosse player Lucia Ferriso is AOSE’s Athlete of the Week. Lucia is a captain for the team, and has been the leader of the defense for the past two seasons. Last week, Ferriso totaled five ground balls. Lucia is known for her speed, while running the ball up the midfield. She is also a skilled defender in one on one play. Ferriso helped the Panther defense hold Newark Academy to just 1 goal and was a key factor in the team beating Governor Livingston for the first time in school history.

The lacrosse team beat Lakeland on Thursday by a score of 15-10. Scarlet Claps led the team with 6 goals, while Colleen Dooley added 3. Goalie Madelyn Moore had 9 saves. Grace Gehm led the midfield with 6 draw controls. Defender, Brynn Kearns, added an assist and 3 ground balls for the Panthers.

AOSE Softball had a tough game against Mountain Lakes. Sara Sterling had 2 hits, one being the team’s first home run this season. Morgane Farrell, Mia MacNaughton, and Ava Petrecca had great at-bats for the Panthers resulting in one walk each.

Courtney McGough beat her own record in the 100m hurtle with a time of 17.3 seconds. She finished 7th overall in the NJACs. Emma Cordano and Caroline O’Callaghan both ran the 200m dash. Isabel Sabnekar, Whitney Teagan, and Courtney McGough competed in the long jump. Caroline O’Callaghan also preformed in the discus throw.
