“Welcome Spring” Contest
April 21, 2023
With spring comes the Pollinators Committee’s first school-wide nature photography contest, themed “Welcome, Spring.” Pollinators Committee Chair Morgan Lomax claims, “Experiences outdoors often raise one’s affinity for nature. The photography contest provides an excellent opportunity for students to capture nature’s beauty while enhancing both their appreciation of the outdoors and their artistic portfolio.” The PC chair warns would-be shutterbugs: “The Saturday, April 22nd deadline will arrive in a snap!”
The winning photo will be featured in The Beth newspaper and AOSE social media. All Academy students are eligible to participate by submitting their original images. Just follow these guidelines:
- Maximum of 3 photos per person.
- Photos must be in a JPG or PNG format.
- Photos must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
- Label each image file with your name (last first) and the title of the work (“Doe Jane – Busy Bees”)
Morgan was inspired to establish the contest while taking the photography elective during her sophomore year. The class often ventured outdoors to photograph flowers in the nearby Shakespeare Garden (located behind the Saint Elizabeth University greenhouse). According to Morgan, “Such excursions should be encouraged.”
