Teacher Feature: Dr. Reilly

Isabella Cerciello, Journalist

Dr. Reilly is a theatre aficionado with a heart and mind for education. Currently, she teaches AP Language and Composition as well as American Literature and British Literature Honors. She received her bachelors at Ramapo College of New Jersey, masters at Iona College, and phD at North Central. Dr. Reilly’s phD specializing in education and technology. Throughout her many years of education, she looked up to her advisor at Ramapo whom was “brilliant and educated but cared and had time to talk and listen.” She believes she is a better teacher and listener because of his impact.

Before becoming an educator she worked for Corporate America but went on to an academic career after her children were born. She has a daughter and son which she considers her greatest achievement. One thing she always reminded them when growing up and something she lives by is that “it is one thing to be bright and another to be a good person.”

One of Dr. Reilly’s passions is theatre which she has pursued since six years old. Getting to see The Sound of Music and starring in her school’s production at six years of age sparked her interest in theatre. Since this time it has affected her life as she continues to grow and work on the stage. This summer she even starred as “The Witch” in Into the Woods. Unsurprisingly her favorite college course was American Musical Theatre. She was able to read plays and listen to musical soundtracks throughout the classes and it is a course that has stuck with her since.

Between her passion for education and the principles she lives by, Dr. Reilly has already made a huge impact on The Academy.
